It’s okay to be overwhelmed.

It’s okay to need a nap or a ‘nap’. Either one.

It’s okay to go for a walk to get away.

It’s okay to go home early.

It’s okay to take care of yourself, however that needs to happen.

We’re being open here, sharing and saying things we don’t always say out loud. What helps: Sharing your stories and Ideas. Cheering and telling what works/worked for you. What hurts: shoulds, harshness, and such. (I used to teach first grade, I can’t help it.)

We actually did come home early.  And I’ve decided that it is okay for us to acknowledge our disappointment that some of our favorite Thanksgiving foods were conspicuously missing from Mother’s menu this year and make them for ourselves this weekend.

And years ago, I gave myself permission to bow out of Black Friday.  I know tons of people love it and wouldn’t miss it, but it’s just too much for this HSP.

I bowed out of Black Friday too, have done so for several years now. I posted this on the TSC Facebook page as an alternative, it seemed really fitting: http://www.thekitchn.com/thekitchn/gift/weekend-project-start-making-edible-gifts-161684

Ahhh… it is ok. We didn’t go anywhere this holiday… taking time for ourselves = good.
